The Process of Ownership
We're building a new ecosystem of products and services that are focused on privacy, security, and ownership. At the forefront is our Iolite Hosting Platform. Here's how it works:
1
Choose your hosting provider
You can use one of our servers in Chattanooga, TN, or we can help you get set up with your own mini server in your home or place of business (referred to as self-hosting). Learn more about our hosting options.
2
Setup your organization
On Iolite, a family, business, or community is referred to as an organization. You'll purchase a domain name through us (or transfer in your existing domain name) so that you can use your own domain for your email and websites (a practice we refer to as owning your identity).
3
Install apps
4
Add users and connect devices
By default, none of your apps are available to the internet, which makes them immune from direct cyber attacks, and no one besides you can access them. You can invite users to your organization, and each user can enroll their phones, tablets, and computers by installing the Iolite Connect app on their device. The app connects them to Iolite using an encrypted VPN, so that your data is always protected.
We take privacy and security seriously. Our support staff can't access your data without your permission. Your data is stored on physical hard drives, on a physical computer, and is never shared with third parties. None of this "stored in the cloud" nonsense. We do send an encrypted backup of your data daily to a server in a different location, just in case. If you are using our servers, then our server administrators could access your data, but we have a policy against doing so without asking you first. If you are go with the self-hosting option, then you control the encryption keys and we have no way to see your data without you allowing us in.
