Pricing
If your want simple and predictable monthly pricing, you can host on our servers. If you want to take more control of your spending, you can host on your own servers and only pay for what you need. Learn more about our hosting options here. In either case, you won't be paying per-user, because as far as we can tell charging per-user only encourages account sharing, which is bad for security.
Our Servers
When using our servers, we charge you monthly for the compute resources you consume and the apps you buy. Same-day email and chat support is included. Phone support, custom development, and strategic planning services are all available, we can discuss those more during your discovery call.
You can find the app pricing in the App Marketplace. You should generally expect to pay a few bucks per app per month, but you can buy app bundles to get discounts.
For compute resources, the base price is $20/month, which gives you enough processing power for a few users and a few apps (1 vCPU and 4GB RAM), 100 GB of storage, and sending up to 5 thousand emails a month. This should be plenty for most families and very small businesses. If you start adding more users and apps, you'll pay an additional $10/month for each block of computing resources (1 vCPU and 4GB RAM). If you need more storage, that's available for $10/TB/month. If you want to send lots of emails, that is $5/month per 5 thousand emails sent.
Your Server
Hardware
A basic mini PC that would work as a server for a family will cost $500-1000, depending on how much storage and processing power you want. Businesses should expect to pay a few thousand for a more redundant and powerful server. We'll work with you to find the right hardware for your organization, and we'll help you with upgrades and replacement parts as needed. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own hardware as well if you have old computers laying around.
App Licensing
We believe most software should be purchased as one-time licenses. When you buy a license from the App Marketplace, you buy the right to run the current version of that app indefinitely, and you'll get one year of free updates. After that year, you should probably just stick with that version unless a new version comes out with a feature that you think is worth paying for, at which point you can pay for another year of updates.
Email Relay
While you technically can send email from your server directly (if your ISP allows it), most other email servers would reject your emails or mark them as spam. For $2 per thousand emails, you can send your emails through our trusted relay service. This is only for sending, your server can recieve emails directly with no issues.
Offsite Backups
Every server we configure has redundant storage built in, so you'll be fine if a drive fails. If you want protection again rare catastrophes, we charge $5/TB/month for daily offsite redundant backups, charged to the nearest GB. All backups are encrypted during transit and at rest with a password that only you know, so that we can never access your data. If you lose your entire server, we'll load your latest backup onto a new one and ship it to you, ready for you to decrypt and start using immediately.
